Tū Māori

Discover your identity, culture, and connection to Te Ao Māori. Tū Māori offers a safe space to learn, grow, and walk in the footsteps of our tūpuna through art, waiata, kai and tikanga.

As a young Māori growing up in Rotorua, I belonged to a generation where te reo Māori was not the first choice of language. I could never have imagined that my journey would one day lead me to where I stand today.

Over time, I began to discover who I was — my identity, my culture, my values and beliefs. I became curious about the knowledge I had gained, and even more passionate about the knowledge I wanted to share with others.

I chose to follow in the footsteps of my kaumātua — those who carved the path before me and made it possible for me to walk this journey. It is because of their legacy that I am privileged to be part of the kaupapa to revitalise te reo me ōna tikanga.

With over 20 years of experience teaching adults of all cultures and ages, I now offer you a space to learn — a place that is safe, inclusive, and grounded in Te Ao Māori. I am deeply passionate about being Māori and am committed to planting the seed — nurturing the next generation of leaders who will carry the teachings of our tūpuna forward in a modern world.

I believe that by embracing the wisdom of our ancestors, we can grow rangatira who understand the values and connections we hold with Papatūānuku and Ranginui — and the importance of manaaki i te taiao. If we care for the environment, it will care for us.
