What is Whāriki?

Whāriki is a place to connect and weave bonds of whanaungatanga, a foundation for the development of Māori economic success, and a platform for Māori entrepreneurial excellence.

What services does Whāriki offer pakihi Māori?

We create opportunities for our communities to kōrero, whakawhanaungatanga, and whakamātauranga. We facilitate hui, wānanga, and hui ā-ataata (events, workshops, and webinars) for pakihi to connect, collaborate and network with other pakihi Māori, and engage withindustry leaders and thought makers. We also provide resources and opportunities for capability-building through te hapori o Whāriki, our Whāriki Community Platform — join us here.

How does Whāriki define a ‘pakihi Māori'?

A business is deemed a pakihi Māori when an owner or owners whakapapa Māori and the business operates a kaupapa Māori business model or is underpinned by kaupapa Māori values. We also consider the business’ contribution to the growth of the Māori economy as a third principle. If a business meets those criteria, nau mai, haere mai; that’s a pakihi Māori. If you are a Māori business owner and aren’t already a Whāriki member, sign up here.

How do I become a Whāriki member?

To join the Whāriki whānau, you must be the owner of a pakihi Māori (Māori business) or a Māori professional. It's free and easy to join – sign up here.
