Ngāpuhi Iwi Social Services (NISS) is a kaupapa Māori organisation based in Kaikohe, dedicated to enhancing the wellbeing of all people including Ngāpuhi whānau and tamariki. As an iwi-led agency, NISS delivers culturally grounded support services, ensuring that care is aligned with Ngāpuhi values, whakapapa, and tikanga. Key services include: Whānau Care – keeping tamariki connected to their whānau, hapū, and iwi through whakapapa-based caregiving. Mātua Atawhai – 24/7 caregiver support for children in care. Community Initiatives – community youth programmes, Whata Kai a social supermarket, community events and others. Cultural Preservation – capturing and sharing Ngāpuhi voices through initiatives like the NISS podcast caravan, whakapapa connection activities and others. NISS is a subsidiary of the wider Ngāpuhi Rūnanga Group to create safer, stronger futures for whānau and the wider community.
